1. STRATEGIC COURSE IN NETHERLANDS - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The next course in the series of Strategic Intelligence Analysis training programs offered in The Netherlands has been schedule for November.

As on previous occasions, the course will be conducted at Ehzerwold, near Almen, in the eastern part of the country. The dates are 1st - 12th November and contact to make nominations or acquire program information can be lodged initially by emailing Don McDowell at donmcdowell.isc@gmail.com

2. NEW - ADVANCED TRAINING IN STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS

A new training curriculum has been developed and successfuly conducted in this topic. The course is purpose-designed to take experienced strategic analysts and expose them to higher levels of critical thinking and judgement-testing, scenario development, hypothesis validation and the like.

The first trial was conducted in February/March in Warsaw for the European Border Guards organisation and more are scheduled to be run in Poland throughout 2010. This course will be offered in late 2010 in both the Netherlands and, possibly, in the United Kingdom.

For agencies seriously considering the desirability of providing advanced training for their strategic analysts, contact the Intelligence Study Centre or the European Intelligence Centre for further details.

3. SCHEDULE - STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE COURSE ANNOUNCEMENTS - 2010

The demand for high quality professional training in strategic intelligence analysis continues unabated in 2010. In addition, advanced training in these techniques has been developed and provided, starting in Europe throughout 2010.

Courses in STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS and ADVANCED STRATEGIC ANALYSIS are now firmly scheduled for February/March, May/June and September/October in Poland. More courses are planned for South Africa (May and September), USA in August, United Kingdom in June and October, and the Netherlands in November.

The training course in strategic analysis to be conducted in the USA in April 2010 is a "closed course" for FinCEN.

Some of these courses are closed to officers outside the sponsoring agency, but places are available on others.

4. STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE ANALYSIS PROGRAM IN SOUTH AFRICA

Another in the regular series of Strategic Intelligence Analysis Courses is scheduled to be conducted in Pretoria, South Africa, during the period 13th - 24th September, 2010.

5. DON McDOWELL'S STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE REFERENCE BOOK

McDowell's award-winning text was first published in 1998 and re-printed several times, serving as the "standard" reference as a how-to book on conducting strategic intelligence research projects.

The book has been revised and was republished in 2009 by Scarecrow Press Inc. The amended ordering and citation details can be downloaded from the PUBLICATIONS page of this website. Reviews of the book praise its unique breadth of coverage and its helpful how-to style of writing. "It is a must for all strategic analysts."

6. ANOTHER DON McDOWELL BOOK DUE OUT IN 2010/2011

Over the next several months, a much-expanded and updated book on strategic analysis by Don McDowell is due for publication . This work builds upon his earlier handbook mentioned above, but takes the reader into much more detail of the "how to" type. The book will include a large number of detailed examples and case studies detailing the implementation of the various strategic intelligence processes outlined in the original handbook. A separate chapter will also spell out in detail the requirements of managing strategic intelligence activity.

7. EUROPEAN INTELLIGENCE CENTRE (EIC) LIMITED
